A funnel brings new leads in your database, new appointments on your calendar, and new sales in your bank account. We all agree that we’d love to have all those things.
A typical sales & marketing funnel starts with a free offer – a lead magnet – which attracts new prospects into your database by giving them education, instruction, or entertainment for no charge. It’s the equivalent of the small piece of chicken on the toothpick at the food court in the mall. Once you taste it, you’ve just GOT TO have more!
A funnel ONLY works if you constantly drive new prospects to accept (download) your free lead magnet. When I say constantly, I mean every day. Every hour would be even better.
It works like this: when you show your lead magnet to 10 people, you might get 1 person in your funnel. When you show your lead magnet to 100 people, you’ll get more. When you show your lead magnet to 1,000 people, a great deal more of them accept your invitation and enter your database. Then, you can nurture them with emails, phone calls, social media connections, and many other ‘touches’ until they become a customer.
Today on Funnel Friday, we’re going to look at 5 Tips to Feed Your Funnel Every Day.
Let’s make a list of ways you can share your free offer:
1. In-person networking meetings and speed networking events
2. Paid ads such as social media, online banners, billboards, newspaper, etc.
3. On your website (page 1, above the fold); in your email signature
4. Interviews: podcasts, radio shows, TV shows, summits
5. Social media pages, such as LinkedIn Banner, FaceBook Banner, etc.
Making your free lead magnet available in the most conspicuous places allows the right people to see it at the right time, when their problem/challenge is top of mind and they’re open to a solution.
I’ve brought some of my favorite marketing tactics from those who attended today’s speed networking event to share with you:
1. A travel agent used a tiny paper suitcase; candy inside and business card outside
2. A pain-relief company attached Hershey kisses to the brochure, which states, “Kiss your pain goodbye!”
3. Include striped hard candy in the exact purple color of their logo, pens and lip balm in a clear bag with business card inside
4. Mini pink Moon Pies for the Valentine’s theme with an invitation to a free Business Workshop stapled to it
Get creative – people will remember you!
